THE WORLD SAYS ITS NAME TO US
The World Says Its Name To Us is a series of paintings that are expressions of my connection to the natural world. They are my attempts to capture the overwhelming and transient beauty of light and color along the Kentucky-Virginia border. I often liken my painting practice to taking fieldnotes—I work quickly to document the daily and seasonal shifts taking place on the external landscape, and in my own internal landscape. More than anything, this series is a practice in devotion—of showing up in times of deep grief and uncertainty, to move paint on paper in hopes of lifting myself out of the darkness in small moments of serenity and celebration.
